"Rhythm is the soul of life. The whole universe revolves in rhythm. Everything and every human action revolves in rhythm." - Babatunde Olatunji
Since our birth, we have been moving to an unseen rhythm that dwells deep inside us. The first rhythms we ever hear are our mother's heartbeat and that of our own. Years later we can still find comfort in the steadiness of its sound and it remains the simplest of all rhythms to reproduce.
All life has rhythm and anyone can produce it just by breathing in and out. Rhythm is in the music of nature. It's the syncopated groove we get into in our daily rituals. It's the intonation of our words expressing the wide range of our emotions. It is our very movements, our life-dance--all impelling us to move, to speak, to sing, to gather and make music.
How many times have you heard or even said yourself, "I can't play, I'm not as good as him (her)." Or, "I can't dance, they look better doing it than me." Remind yourself—the seeker does not have to be a drummer, or a dancer, or a singer. The seeker need only be willing to open up to the music and rhythm flowing all around them. You just might be surprised how it nourishes a deep place within you when you surrender to the healing and transformational power of rhythm.
Join us for a weekend of drumming, dancing, and all things rhythmic at The Log Cabin Campground! You won't have to wait until the 23rd hour to drum and dance—there will be activities all weekend geared toward getting your feet tappin', your hands slappin', and your hips movin'!
